Over 16, 000 Candidates sat for TRCN Professional Exam
At least 16,614 candidates participated in the Batch 'B' Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) conducted by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) across the country.
The Acting Registrar of TRCN, Dr. Stella Nwokeocha, spoke to reporters on Saturday while monitoring the examination at SASCON International School. She noted that the process had been smooth nationwide.
Dr. Nwokeocha emphasized that any candidates caught engaging in malpractice would be stopped from continuing the exam.
She further stated, "By the time the exams are concluded, we will have professionalized teachers who are competent and equipped with the right knowledge and skills to effectively carry out teaching and learning in the classroom."
Dr. Nwokeocha also urged the government to continue paying staff salaries, even though TRCN is not currently included in the government’s funding system.
Additionally, the Director of ICT at the Ministry of Education, Abubakar Isah, who represented the acting Permanent Secretary, praised TRCN for conducting the examination in a seamless manner.
Dr. Jacinta Ezeahurukwe, the Director of Certification and Licensing at TRCN, highlighted the commission's efforts to improve the examination process. She explained that an app to detect impersonation had been introduced for accreditation purposes.
Dr. Ezeahurukwe added that the commission is gradually transitioning to a fully online registration system, continuously improving its processes each year.
