Ondo Election: Yiaga Africa Decries Prevalence Of Vote Buying
Yiaga Africa, an Election Monitoring Group, has decried the prevalence of voting buying in the just concluded Governorship Election held across 18 Local Government Councils in the state.
The Group, while presenting it's mid day findings to Journalists in Abuja, said it's team of monitoring units observed occurrence of vote buying across several polling units, which it claimed, has become a permanent feature in the Electoral system in Nigeria.
GALAXY TV reports that Chairman of the 2024 Ondo Election Mission, Ezenwa Nwagwu,.who addressed Journalists, strongly condemned the ugly trend as it contributed in no small measure to Electoral corruption and and political inequality
Yiaga Africa observed that the exercise began calmly and orderly, demonstrating citizens interest in participating peacefully adding that, Inec and transport Union groups successfully deployed election officials and materials across the state.
It however, urged inec to adhere strictly to the guidelines for results collation adding that, security agencies should remain professional and non partisan throughout the results collation process.
Yiaga also implored voters to remain patient and peaceful through the voting process as the organization will continue to update them as events unfold.
