Insecurity: Ondo to launch special security outfit
As part of its commitment to strengthen the security apparatus and stem the tide of insecurity in Ondo state, the state government is about to inaugurate new security outfit code name 'Amotekun'.
The state commissioner for information, Donald Ojogo said this while briefing newsmen on the various security efforts the government put in place for the smooth take-off of the program.
The commissioner explained that the new security outfit is all-encompassing with necessary equipment to fight insecurity which characterized south-west states saying cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities in the region will soon be a thing of the past.
He said the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has taken some far-reaching measures for the effective take-off of the security outfit with the procurement of 120 motorcycles and 20 Hilux vans to rid the state and south-west region of crimes and criminality.
The commissioner also called on private individuals, corporate bodies and other stakeholders to join hands with the government in supporting the security trust fund that will be introduced in the state.
