Leaders and Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress on Tuesday took their peaceful protest to the White House in Abuja, which houses both the Senate and House of Representatives.

The Protesters, led by the President of the Labour Congress Joe Ajero, stormed the National Assembly with placards of various inscriptions and decried the high cost of living in the country.

Galaxy tv reports that members of the Union were orderly as they coordinated themselves despite the presence of security men within and outside the National Assembly Complex.

Speaking shortly before he presented their demands to the Chairman Senate Committee on Labour Senator Diket Plang, From Plaeteu Central, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajero decried the state of the nation, saying Nigerians have been seriously impoverished by the policies of the present administration.
He urged the Federal Government to put in place immediate measures to solve the issues of hunger and insecurity in the land.

According to him, the hunger in the land is very alarming, prices of goods has increased as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship, a development he claimed, made the union to embark on a nationwide protest to press their demands.

Responding, the Chairman Senate Committee on Labour, Senator Diket Plang, who represented the Senate President and received the complaint letter of the Union, commended leaders and members for being orderly, promising that their demands would be table before the Senate.

Some of the protesters, who spoke with our Correspondent decried the state of hunger, economic crisis and insecurity in the land, calling on the President and his team to rise to the occasion.
The protesters had since left the National Assembly, with an appeal to the lawmakers to do the needful on their demands.
