The ongoing onslaught against kidnappers in the Delta communities of Ughelli North and South continue to yield the desired result as the special squad deployed by the Delta police commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda have neutralizes a suspected notorious kidnapper known as Joel Joseph.

The command in a statement by its spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to our correspondent, said the suspect who is the leader of a kidnap gang and hails from Ekakpamre community in Ughelli North, engaged the police in a shootout while trailing him.

According to the police, the suspect engaged it's men in a shootout where he sustained gunshot injuries before giving up the ghost at the Ughelli General hospital.
One AK 47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition was said to have been recovered from the suspect.

In another development, a suspected gunrunner was arrested during a stop and search exercise at the head-bridge Asaba, as a sack containing eight hundred and seventy five rounds of live cartridges were recovered and impounded.

The Delta police commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended officers and men of the command for their gallantry, while calling on members of the public to always provide useful information to the police in reducing crime to the barest minimum level.
