The people of Awka, the Anambra state capital are currently under tension as the rampaging unknown gunmen strike again in the state. 

This time the heavily armed men invaded B division police station and the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Sunday night/Monday morning.

According to residents in the area, many police officers were feared dead from the attack. They said the sporadic shooting lasted for almost 2 hours.

Shortly after launching a very dangerous attack on the police facility the attackers, uninterrupted proceeded to the INEC headquarters in the state which is just a few meters away from the police station and set the building ablaze.

Eye witness account revealed that the gunmen invaded the area in three fully parked Hilux vehicles.

When contacted by our correspondent Ajibade Awofeso, the police public relations officer SP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the attack but promise to come up with full details of it later.
