The Federal Government has summoned an urgent meeting of all cement manufacturers in Nigeria over the escalating price of the product.

The meeting according to the statement issued by Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji,, the Special Adviser ( Media) to the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, is scheduled to hold on Monday February, 19, 2024.

According to the statement made available to our Correspondent in Abuja, Worried by the escalating cost of cement despite huge patronage by road and housing contractors to cement manufacturers, the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency Sen Engr Nweze David Umahi has summoned an urgent meeting of all cement manufacturers in Nigeria.

Those invited are: Dangote Plc,. BUA Plc and .Larfarge and others. The meeting is scheduled for the Secretariat of the Ministry in Abuja on Monday.
The Statement added that It is common knowledge that the manufacturers have their challenges, which shall look into adding that from findings, the disparity between ex-factory price and the market price is wide.

The Government there declared it determination to look into the situation and other issues with a view to finding a common front.
