Bayelsa governor calls for special forces replacement
Bayelsa state Governor, Senator Douye Diri has called on the Inspector General of Police to reconsider the special forces stay in the Bayelsa community of Nembe Bassambiri, saying they should be posted to areas where their services are needed.
Governor Diri made the call at the government house in Yenagoa when the panel of Judicial Inquiry into the remote cause of the unrest that resulted in the death of some youths on February, 15th, 2023, officially submitted their findings.
The state’s chief security officer who expressed displeasure in the continuous stay of the special forces in Nembe, asked for a review of their posting as Bayelsa is now relatively peaceful.
The Governor used the medium to advocate for unity amongst the Nembe people and Bayelsans at large for the development of the state rather than its division.
