Bad Pitch Not Responsible For Our Loss - Asamoah Gyan

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has refused to blame the controversial pitch at the Mbombela Stadium for their semi-final defeat to Burkina Faso.

The Black Stars were not allowed to train on the field by the local organising committee which goes contrary to the rules and regulations of the Confederation of African Football.

Usually each country is allowed one training run on the match pitch on the eve of their first appearance at a venue.

Gyan admitted they did not show enough fist for the match instead of blaming the ragged pitch.

"I think we cannot find excuses with the field. We've all played on this kind of field before in Africa," Gyan said.

"Before the game we saw the pitch and we didn’t think about the field. We came here to win this game and to go to the final.''

Ghana opened the scoring in the first half from a controversial penalty before Aristide Bance leveled on the hour mark.

During the penalty shootouts, Isaac Vorsah and Emmanuel Clottey dragged their kicks wide of the post and Burkina Faso goalkeeper Daouda Diakite saved Emmanuel Badu's kick to miss out on ticket to the final.
