OGSIEC Promises Transparent Elections, Releases Guidelines
In preparation for the forthcoming July 24 Local government elections in Ogun State, the State Independent Electoral Commission, OGSIEC has promised to conduct free, fair and transparent elections, saying the exercise would be the most peaceful in the history of the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Babatunde Osibodu disclosed this while revealing the guidelines for the poll at a stakeholders' meeting with political parties, civil society groups, aspirants as well as other relevant bodies in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He assured that the local councils' elections would be the true reflection of the people's wishes and aspirations.
The Chairman of the Commission who rolled out some of the guidelines said the chairmanship form will be sold for N200, 000 while the councillorship form will be sold for N100,000. He added that forms would be given to women for free.
