N80bn Fraud: FG Suspends AGF, Ahmed Idris
The Federal Government has officially suspended embattled Nigeria’s Accountant-General, Mr. Ahmed Idris who is currently facing allegations of fraud.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on Monday arrested AG Idris, over the alleged mismanagement of N80billion.
Idris who was arrested in Kano State and brought to Abuja is currently being interrogated by EFCC at an undisclosed facility in Nigeria.
However, the minister of finance Mrs. Zainab Ahmed in a statement in Abuja suspended Idris from office against the backdrop of criticisms that have trailed the mind-boggling amount of money involved in the crime and why the suspect has not been suspended from office.
Idris is alleged to have acquired multi-billion naira properties, shared them with family members, and secretly married a teenage girl before he was eventually arrested by an anti-graft agency early in the week.
He is yet to be arraigned in court by EFCC.
