The FCT Police Command Monday dismissed the viral message in some sections of the social media purporting that online publisher Omoyele Sowore was shot by a female Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Unity Fountain. 

In a statement signed by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf, a team of police personnel displayed the highest form of professionalism in dispersing a group of protesters bent on inciting public disturbance.

The police, therefore, dismissed the claims of the alleged shooting of Sowore, Convener of the controversial Revolution Now Movement.

The Command enjoins residents to remain calm and law-abiding while reaffirming its commitment towards the protection of lives and property within the FCT.

An amateur viral footage shows Omoyele Sowore hitting the floor at the vicinity of the Unity Fountain Park after a teargas canister was shot in his direction.

The online publisher has been in a long-running battle with the law as a vocal critic of the Buhari-led government.
