Delta Governor Debunks Receipt of Ibori Loot
Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa has said that the state government has not received the 4.2 million pounds Ibori loot as announced by the accountant general of the federation Mr Ahmed Idris.
The Governor made this known in Asaba the state capital after different pressure groups including the opposition All Progressives Congress APC in the state requested the Governor to make it known to Deltans, while also advising him to use the money judiciously.
Refuting the claim by the accountant general of the federation, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr Olise Ifejika said while they appreciate the efforts of the federal government in returning the money to the coffers of the state government, it has not reflected on the state government account.
Speaking further, Governor Okwa chief press secretary promised to inform members of the public when the money finally hits the account of the state government since they are constantly in touch with the office of the attorney general of the federation.
It will be recalled that the accountant general of the federation Ahmed Idris had made the revelation at the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on assessment and status of all recovered loot meetings before the state government refuted the claim.
