BENUE POLICE ARREST FOUR OVER ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION
Benue State Police Command have paraded seven suspects after they were arrested for various crime offences such as a foiled assassination attempt, armed robbery, banditry among others in the state.
Parading the suspects at the Command headquarters in MAKURDI, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, disclosed that four of the suspects arrested over assassination attempt by men of operation Zenda, a joint police task force, through intelligence and tracking was not in anyway political
It was said that a gang of two suspects named Kashima Anja A.k.a "Takari", and Terlumum Anna A.k.a "Aromi" were trying to assassinate the current chairman of Katsina Ala local government council, Mr Alfred Atera, on the 5th of October, 2022. The same tactical team had earlier foiled another assassination attempt in Zaki Biam while they try to eliminate one Mr Lubem Akombo, on the 9th of September, 2022, the suspects Chiata Ihom, amd Shimangi Nyeriyo A.k.a "Ratata" during interview confessed to their crime.
Meanwhile an armed robbery syndicate were also arrested by men of operation of Zenda along Taraku - Otukpo road and Ikpayongo - Makurdi road for dispossessing motorists and passengers of their valuables, the suspects also confessed to their crimes.
The police public relations says they will be charge to court for prosecution after investigation, items recovered from the suspects were 13 phones, 5 arms, 9 ammunition, and 13 cartridges.
