Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, has expressed gratitude to God and the people of the state for standing by him and not allowing those he described as cabals to occupy the seat of power during the 2023 November 11th governorship election in the state.

Governor Diri made the remarks on Sunday at a special Thanksgiving service at the State ecumenical center Yenagoa.
In a colourful ceremony graced by prominent Bayelsans, politicians, captains of industries, including the wife of Former Nigerian President Dame Patience Jonathan, Senator Douye Diri said despite the challenges his administration encountered during his first four years as Governor, it is always necessary for him and Bayelsans to thank God for preservation.

In their goodwill messages, the immediate past Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah Retired and the former acting governor pledged support for the Governor to succeed in the second tenure, as they advise him to build a legacy for the next governor.
